Peace and quiet

This sloping garden, which segues

softly into its surrounding valley,

where children played just yesterday,

is ours alone to enjoy now.

Nothing but the distant scream

of stratospheric buzzards and,

nearer by, the hum of bees, disturbs

our longed-for peace and quiet.






Oh if I could only turn back time.
